Bella Hadid, who is quickly becoming the poster girl for all things risqué, advocates coupling that slit with a plunging neckline. No-holds-barred, if you please. Priyanka Chopra and Pernia Qureshi, on the other hand, are in favour of accentuating this bold look with an exposed back. But if you’d rather go middle-of-the road, then borrow from Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss’ repertoire and balance your skyrocketing slit and ample décolletage with full sleeves.

With pale colours topping trend charts this summer, it was only a matter of time that flesh-toned nudes caught the eye of the stylish set. And while the idea of prancing around in an outfit that could be mistaken for your birthday suit can be considered gimmicky, the effect a nude dress guarantees is quite the opposite—restrained and discreet would sum it up.

The nude dress is subtle, but carries an air of sex appeal at the same time. If you’ve been on the fence about sporting this hue, the smattering of celebrities sporting it could change your mind.

It’s best to keep it fuss-free and stick to one tone when wearing the little nude dress. Khloé Kardashian, Gigi Hadid and Katrina Kaif are all in favour of this minimalistic sensibility—choosing to top off their nude dresses with neutral footwear, minus any statement accessories. Blake Lively takes the head-to-toe nude look a notch up by keeping not just her sheath dress, but also her coat and pumps, in the nude family.

Those who fear that this could lead to them looking washed-out, take a cue from Alia Bhatt who turned to coloured embroidery to reprieve her nude dress.

But it’s not just the nude dress that begs to be included in your wardrobe. Turn to nude gowns when scouting for special occasion-wear. Whether you choose a flared princess-like style or a sexy, slinky number; accessorise them with a diamond necklace à la Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bella Hadid. Or better yet, slip into a full-sleeved nude gown, complemented by an army of blinding rings like Beyoncé.

Just remember that this is not a ‘one shade suits all’ trend. Christian Louboutin has had it right all along with his nude collection. The trick is to choose a shade (and this spectrum could range from taupe, caramel, brown, and tan to beige, blush, cream or camel) that is a perfect match with your skin tone. After all, as Louboutin has been quoted saying, “Nude is not a colour, it’s a concept.”
