What can easily be dubbed as the Oscars of fashion, the annual Met Gala at the Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of those events you stay up to watch unfold. This year’s theme for the gala, hosted by Vogue magazine’s Anna Wintour, was ‘ManusXMachina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’. Loosely translated from Latin as the combination of handmade and machine-made creations, the interpretation of the theme was broadly futuristic.
There are many things fashion can be faulted for, but reinvention is not one of them. Rather than inspecting the dichotomy—handwork versus the product of machines—this year’s exhibit of 170 garments regales of how these both go hand-in-hand. “I find fashion a deeply, deeply humanistic practice and art form. I am such an advocate of fashion as an art form. I am so surprised that debate is still happening. I hope that after this show we can move on from there and ask other questions: ‘Is it good fashion? Is it bad fashion? What’s it saying?’ I just want to move on from that argument. I want people to accept it,” said curator Andrew Bolton in an interview with WWD.
To mark the opening of the exhibition, The Met Museum and Vogue Magazine join forces to throw a ball that is the highlight of all social events in New York City. This year’s ball was hosted by co-chairs Idris Elba, Jonathan Ive of Apple, Taylor Swift, Anna Wintour, Nicolas Ghesquière, Karl Lagerfeld and Miuccia Prada.
As for the celebrities who make the evening the spectacle it is, favourites spotted at this year included Zoe Saldana in feather-embellished Dolce & Gabbana gown, Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell, Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen, Beyoncé in Givenchy, and Willow and Jaden Smith in Chanel and Louis Vuitton respectively. Here’s our round up of the stars who walked the red carpet.

The workout that got Katrina Kaif the super-flat stomach of your dreams

Before we begin, let’s accept that Rome wasn’t built in a day and those fabulous abs you’ve spotted on Katrina Kaif recently didn’t just get there on their own.
But if you’re thinking that beach bods only exist in the movies and fashion editorials, you’re wrong. Following a regular fitness routine combined with a wholesome diet can help anyone achieve a leaner, healthier body.
So how did Kaif tone up and strengthen that core? A whole lot of training and dedication. Her trainer, Yasmin Karachiwala, spills the beans.
Work, work, work, workGenerally, Kaif does a mixture of Pilates, functional training, plyometrics, TRC and cardio every single day. For the abs, Karachiwala ensured she did an hour of Pilates and 45 minutes of cardio daily.
You cannot put a cap on the time it takes to get flat abs, though. Karachiwala believes that to get that body, it really depends on where you start: “Understand what your fitness level is and how your body responds to it. Katrina has an amazing fitness level, so to achieve those abs, we just had tweak her workout a little.”
Diet disciplineYou have to sync your exercise routine with your food intake. Kaif doesn’t follow a particular diet. “She eats smart and listens to her body and needs—she avoids gluten, dairy and sugar, and tries to include protein, fibre and good fats in all her meals,” reveals Karachiwala.

Deepika Padukone Out Of Kabir Khan's Salman Khan Starrer 'Tubelight'?

A few days ago it was reported that Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan will finally come together for Kabir Khan's upcoming Indo-Chinese project titled Tubelight and while the news made cine-lovers ecstatic, it seems they will have to wait a little longer to see the two actors together on-screen.

We hear that while DeePee was quite excited to work in the film initially, she later realized that she doesn't have much to do in the film and told Kabir that she would be a part of the film only if he would make her role meatier. However, Kabir didn't want to change his script and thus Deepika bowed out of the film.

Sources claim that the film's script demands a girl of Chinese origin and now, the makers have decided to go with their original plan of casting a Chinese girl, who'll be selected after several rounds of auditions.
